A Best Friend

Hi everyone! I'd like you to meet my best friend. 

I met him almost three years ago in a history class we had together. We sat next to each other all semester and didn't talk to each other at all. I'd walk into class and think dang, I'm gonna talk to this cutie today. Today then became tomorrow, next week, and then ah, forget it. Everyday we'd just smile at each other and peek at each other's papers to see what grades we got. (He tried to cheat off of my test once. However, I did not study for that particular test. Boo-ya!)

A few days before the end of the semester we began talking. Short simple conversations. Like.. hi! How are you? Where are you from?  I learned that he had just moved to Denver from Riverside and that he was going back to Cali for the summer. The last day of class came by and we both got to class early to "study for the final" (coincidence?).

Here's how it went down:

Me: So... we should hang out. Like um over the summer or when you come back from California or something. 

Him: Yeah sure! 

Me: *hands over my phone awkwardly*

Him: *confused for a second, then puts in his number in my phone *

Our final exam begins.

He finishes early and smiles at me as he leaves. I smile back.

I cannot freaking finish this test because I am so happy. (similar feeling to being in a candy store)

I finally finish the exam and rush out of the classroom.

I text him. I remember the text message I sent too. I said "Hey you :)"

And ever since that day, we never stopped talking.

One day when we get married and have kids, I'm gonna tell 'em how I hit on dad.

Hahahaha. So weird.

I never really understood what it was like to have a best friend. He's the only person I can be like, what the heck are you wearing? Or, this pasta you made tastes like crap. Or... do I have any boogers on my face or green stuff in my teeth? And he is the only person who lets me yell at him when I am angry at the world.

If you are reading this Alex, you are kinda awesome.
